Lucid Issues OTA Recall Covering 875 Air Sedans Over Rearview Camera Glitch — Fix Already Available

Lucid has issued an over-the-air (OTA) recall for 875 units of its 2022–2025 Air sedans in Canada and the U.S. due to a software glitch that can cause the rearview camera to display a blank or delayed image when the vehicle is in reverse.

According to documents filed with Transport Canada and the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles are running software versions earlier than 2.8.0. Lucid discovered that some cars may either show a blank screen with a warning message or a lagging camera feed, preventing an accurate view of what’s behind the vehicle. potentially increasing the risk of a collision.

The automaker traced the blank-screen issue to a software bug that caused the rearview camera to enter a faulted state when frame rates dropped below a certain threshold. The company addressed this by implementing a debounce timer in the 2.8.0 software update to stabilize the camera system.

The delayed-image issue, meanwhile, was linked to vehicles equipped with an earlier version of the Center Console Controller (CCCv1) and the AD02 ADAS package. Although the exact cause of the lag was not fully identified, Lucid said it was able to resolve the problem through the same update.

“Lucid determined that certain model year 2022–2025 Lucid Air vehicles operating on software versions prior to version 2.8.0 may experience either of two issues, a blank rear view monitor screen that contains a warning or a lag in the rearview monitor image,” the automaker said in its safety filing. “Updating all Air vehicles to version 2.8.0 or later resolves both issues.”

Lucid released the fix via an over-the-air (OTA) update in August 2025. However, data showed that 10 customer vehicles in Canada and a further 865 in the U.S. had not yet installed the fix — prompting the recall.

The company said that all new vehicles leaving the factory since August have been updated to the latest software.
