Lucid is getting ready to expand charging options for its customers. The newly launched Gravity SUV is set to gain access to Tesla’s expansive Supercharger network on January 31. Unlike its older sibling, the Lucid Air sedan, the Gravity will not require an adapter to plug into Tesla’s chargers, as it is built with a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port.
This also means owners of the Lucid Air sedan will have to wait a little longer for Supercharger access, as they will require a NACS adapter.
Lucid Gravity Fast Charging Speeds
The Gravity, Lucid’s luxury electric SUV, was first delivered to employees and friends and family in December 2024, with the initial production run limited to the high-end Grand Touring trim, which starts at US$94,900. A more affordable Touring variant, priced at US$79,900, is expected to launch later in 2025.
The Gravity features 926-volt charging architecture, which enables fast charging speeds. Lucid claims that, under optimal conditions, the Gravity can charge at up to 400 kW on 1000V chargers and sustain 225 kW speeds on 500V fast chargers, including Tesla’s V3 Superchargers, meaning even at lower-voltage stations, the SUV can add significant range in just minutes.
Lucid Air Owners Will Have to Wait
While Gravity owners will enjoy seamless access to Tesla’s Supercharger network without an adapter, Lucid says Air owners will have to wait until the second quarter of 2025 for their turn. The Air, which was Lucid’s first production model, uses the older Combined Charging System (CCS) connector.
To connect to Tesla’s network, Lucid will provide an adapter, allowing Air owners to utilize the same expansive Supercharger infrastructure.
As of early 2025, Tesla’s Supercharger network has already opened to other brands, starting with Ford in early 2024, followed by Rivian, General Motors, Volvo, Polestar, and Nissan. Mercedes-Benz is also expected to get Supercharger access in February 2025.
