Lucid has joined the ‘Made in Saudi’ program. Announced by the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Lucid’s inclusion in the program makes it the first automaker to receive the ‘Saudi Made’ certification.
This allows the company to add a ‘Saudi Made’ badge on its luxury electric vehicles (EVs).
The ‘Made in Saudi’ initiative, launched in 2021, is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 strategy, aimed at diversifying the economy and reducing reliance on oil revenues. By promoting locally manufactured products and encouraging foreign investment in the Kingdom’s industrial sector, the program seeks to increase the contribution of non-oil industries to the gross domestic product (GDP) to 20% by 2025.
“Joining the ‘Made in Saudi’ program is a significant honor for Lucid. It reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation. We are proud to contribute to the Kingdom’s vision for an advanced and diversified economy by delivering cutting-edge electric vehicles manufactured right here in Saudi Arabia,” said Faisal Sultan, Vice President and Managing Director of Lucid Middle East.
Lucid was able to join the program thanks to its manufacturing plant, AMP-2, located in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), which began operations in 2023. This facility initially launched by re-assembling cars made at its manufacturing facility in Casa Grande, Arizona (AMP-1), but is expected to expand and become a fully integrated production hub capable of manufacturing up to 155,000 vehicles annually.
Lucid’s growing presence in Saudi Arabia reflects the Kingdom’s aggressive push to transition to sustainable mobility. As part of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia aims for 30% of all vehicles in Riyadh to be electric by the end of the decade. The Kingdom also expects to deploy 5,000 fast chargers by 2030.
