Largest Tesla Supercharger in Canada to Open January 23 in Ajax [Ontario]

Tesla owners in Ontario are about to gain access to the country’s biggest Supercharger station. After months of waiting, the new 44-stall Supercharger in Ajax is set to officially open on January 23, 2026, bringing a major boost to Tesla’s charging infrastructure in the Greater Toronto Area.

Located at Durham Centre, near the northeast corner of Kingston Road and Harwood Avenue, the station broke ground back in May 2025. Now, after nearly eight months of construction first started, the switch will finally be flipped next Friday, according to information shared with Drive Tesla, making it the largest Supercharger site in Canada, surpassing the 40-stall rooftop Supercharger in Richmond, BC, which has held the title since it opened in September 2023.

The Ajax Supercharger is ideally positioned for local drivers and those passing through on Highway 401, sitting roughly midway between the Westney Road and Salem Road interchanges. It’s just a five-minute drive from either exit, making it a highly convenient stop for east-west traffic across southern Ontario.

The station is located within Durham Centre, a large power centre with plenty of retail and food options to keep drivers occupied while they charge. Just a short two-minute walk from the Superchargers is a Starbucks inside the nearby Chapters, as well as other popular stops like Five Guys Burgers, HomeSense, Sport Chek, and LCBO.

There’s also a mix of local and chain restaurants, including Burgers on Fleek, a well-reviewed spot for handcrafted burgers, as well as bubble tea shops and a full-service pizzeria. While the layout of the plaza is spread out, the station’s central location puts several of these amenities within easy reach.

With 44 V3 Supercharger stalls, the site will dramatically increase Tesla’s fast-charging capacity in the region, helping to reduce congestion and wait times during peak travel periods. The nearest existing Supercharger is a 20-stall site in Pickering, which is only a V2 (150kW) station that is frequently busy with owners often experiencing a wait time, especially in colder weather.
