After reaching an agreement with Tesla, Kia announced that their EV lineup could now access over 21,500 Tesla Superchargers in Canada and the United States. Kia EVs now have access to over 40,000 DC fast chargers in North America.
To use the Superchargers, Kia owners will need to enroll in the Kia Charge Pass program, which can be accessed through the Kia Access App. The app will now include Superchargers in its search, locate and navigate options, and provide live data on charger availability, pricing, and status.
For those Kia owners who have a CCS1 charging port on their vehicles, they can get an NACS adapter through a local Kia dealership.
Kia has already started to make the switch to NACS as their charging standard, with the 2025 EV6 and 2026 EV9 coming with a NACS port.
Also included in the announcement from Kia America was an apology to Tesla and a condemnation of certain Nordic distributors who had run anti-Tesla ads in the Nordics.
In the announcement, Kia America stated this:
Kia America is aware of marketing posts by certain Nordic distributors. These initiatives were developed entirely independently by those distributors, without direction from Kia America, Kia Europe or Kia Global. We want it to be clear that these posts do not reflect the position of Kia America, and we remain committed to clear and professional communication that reflects our values.
