Jaguar Unveils Type 00 Concept at Miami Art Week

Jaguar has officially unveiled its new electric concept, the Type 00, during Miami Art Week 2024. As part of the brand’s pivot toward an all-electric future, the Type 00 is meant to encapsulate Jaguar’s reimagined philosophy of “Copy Nothing,” but it may have missed the mark and raises questions on what Jaguar’s future production vehicles will actually look like.

According to Jaguar, at the heart of the Type 00’s new design ethos is Exuberant Modernism. The concept car’s exterior features a fastback profile, a long hood, 23-inch alloy wheels, and like the Polestar 4, no rear window.

Inside, the Type 00 features a cabin that looks more like an art installation than a traditional car interior with materials such as travertine stone, brass, and woven wool blends. A central brass spine runs through the minimalist cabin, supporting floating seats and instrument panels that deploy seamlessly from the dashboard.

Built on Jaguar’s JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture) platform, the Type 00 Concept is a preview of what’s to come from the brand’s electric transformation. While Jaguar has kept mechanical specifics under wraps, Jaguar is promising some impressive specs – an EPA estimated range of up to 430 miles (692km) and fast charging capabilities that add 200 miles (322km) in just 15 minutes.

“This concept is the foundation stone for the future of Jaguar. It’s a fearless expression of what’s to come—a reimagination of the brand that captivates and inspires,” said Professor Gerry McGovern, JLR’s Chief Creative Officer.

Like most concept vehicles, the Type 00 concept will likely look very different when it reaches production, which is set to debut in late 2025.
