Hyundai Canada announced this week that the 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric will start at $46,399 and be available in two trims.
The Preferred Trim is the base model and starts at $46,339. While the Ultimate Trim starts at $51,199. The Ultimate Trim features a heads-up display, wireless device charging, Digital Key technology and a Bose sound system.
Hyundai has completely redesigned its electric offering, and the Kona now comes with a 64.8 kWh battery powering a 150 kW electric motor, giving the vehicle a range of 420 km. The battery also has a 400V fast-charge ability which allows it to go from 10 to 80 per cent charged in less than 45 minutes.
In addition, the Kona will come with a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen featuring a next-generation infotainment experience that features Android Auto and Apple Car Play. The vehicle will also feature a Hyundai Smartsense for those looking for safety features.
Also, each trim will come with frunk storage at the front, active grille shutters, i-Pedal driving and a Smart Regenerative System that will adjust regeneration based on the traffic you are in.
Overall, the 2024 variant is a little bigger and has more passenger space. The front seats are 30 per cent slimmer, giving rear passengers about 77mm of extra space.
The vehicle will be available at the Hyundai Canada dealership starting December 2023. Hyundai did not confirm when vehicles will be shipping, nor did they confirm the availabilities by province.
