GM Gains Access to Tesla Supercharger Network, Starts Selling NACS Adapters

General Motors (GM) electric vehicle drivers finally have broad access to more than 17,800 Tesla Superchargers in North America. Drivers of the company’s electric vehicles can now purchase a GM-approved NACS DC adapter to seamlessly charge at Tesla-branded charging stations.

General Motors announced Wednesday that its EV owners now have access to more than 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations to its customers using an approved NACS DC adapter. The move significantly accelerates the fast and convenient charging process for current and future GM EV owners, promoting broader EV adoption.

To access the Tesla Supercharger Network, US customers will be able to purchase a NACS adapter through GM brand mobile apps for US$225. For Canadian customers, the price is C$310, but only pre-orders are currently available through dealers. Deliveries in Canada will begin in Q4 2024.

GM EV owners will also be able to use their GM app to easily find available Tesla Supercharger stations, check charging station status, initiate charging, and pay for charging sessions.

With the opening of the Tesla Supercharger Network, GM customers will have access to more than 231,800 public Level 2 and DC Fast Charger charging stations in North America. Keep in mind that the number of charging stations will continue to grow as Tesla continues to expand its charging network. GM is also continuing to roll out charging infrastructure in communities and busy corridors through various joint charging projects.

“GM’s ongoing efforts to help accelerate the expansion of public charging infrastructure is an integral part of our commitment to an all-electric future,” said Wade Sheffer, vice president of GM Energy. “Enabling access to even more publicly available fast chargers represents yet another way GM is focused on further improving the customer experience and making the transition to electric more seamless.”

GM said it plans to use multiple suppliers to produce NACS-approved DC adapters.
