Authorities are investigating after multiple incendiary devices were discovered early Monday morning at a Tesla showroom in Austin, Texas.
Austin Police responded to a 9-1-1 call at approximately 8:04 a.m. local time. Upon arrival, officers located several suspicious items, which led to the department’s bomb squad being called to the scene. The devices were confirmed to be incendiary in nature and were safely removed from the scene without incident.
The FBI has since taken the lead on the case, working in coordination with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and local law enforcement. Authorities have not identified any suspects and continue to investigate the incident.
The Austin incident is one of nearly 20 confirmed attacks on Tesla properties in the United States since January 2025. Three individuals have been federally charged in these incidents.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has labeled these acts as “domestic terrorism,” vowing swift justice for anyone targeting Tesla. “The days of committing crimes without consequence have ended,” she said last week. “If you join this wave of violence against Tesla, the Department of Justice will put you behind bars.”
In response to the escalating attacks, the FBI announced Monday it has formed a 10-person task force with representatives from its Counterterrorism Division, Weapons of Mass Destruction unit, and ATF. The task force is reportedly monitoring online extremist communities for further threats.
