Tesla’s first Diner in Los Angeles has become one of the company’s most surprising hits — and now, Elon Musk says the futuristic drive-in could be headed for expansion. The CEO revealed that he is considering two new locations, one near the automaker’s Giga Texas factory in Austin and the other by its engineering headquarters in Palo Alto, California.
The original and only Tesla Diner, which opened to the public on July 21 at 4:20 p.m., quickly became one of Tesla’s most unique and profitable side ventures. Equipped with balcony seating, rooftop movie screens, 24-hour service, and 32 Supercharger stalls, it’s both a restaurant and a fully operational charging hub.
Tesla hasn’t disclosed full financial details, but data shared in its Q3 2025 charging report revealed that more than 50,000 burgers were sold in a single quarter, equating to over 700 per day.
The menu, curated by a world-class chef, focuses on locally sourced ingredients. Fan favourites include the “Ludicrous Burger,” “Cyber Fries,” and food containers shaped like the Cybertruck. A rotating seasonal selection and signature milkshakes keep repeat visitors coming back. Tesla also sells themed merchandise such as vintage diner shirts, “Supercharged Gummy Candies,” and Tesla Bot figurines.
In a post on X, Musk reshared a video of the diner advertising that breakfast is now available until 2 p.m, saying, “The futuristic Tesla Diner is going well. Probably makes sense to open one near our Giga Texas HQ in Austin and engineering HQ in Palo Alto.”

The Diner was first teased in 2018, when Musk promised to build an old-school drive-in, complete with servers on roller-skates, at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations.” After several years of permitting delays, Tesla broke ground in the second half of 2023 and completed construction earlier this year, delivering on those promises.
This isn’t the first time Musk has hinted at an expansion of the Tesla Diner. Shortly after it opened in California, Musk said ok to building another location at Starbase, Texas.
