Activists project controversial “Heil Tesla” message and Elon Musk gesture on Giga Berlin

Two political activist groups have projected images and messages targeting Tesla and CEO Elon Musk onto the front facade of Giga Berlin. The groups, Center for Political Beauty and Led by Donkeys, displayed the word “Heil” in front of the Tesla logo, along with a large image of Musk performing his controversial “my heart goes out to you gesture” from earlier this week, which many have interpreted as a Nazi salute.

The activist groups took to social media to share images and videos of their protest. A spokesperson for the Center for Political Beauty said that the projection was conducted around 8pm local time, and that a drone was used to capture footage of the event.

German law enforcement initially dismissed the activists’ claims, with police in Brandenburg stating that there was no evidence of the protest ever happening. Security guards at Giga Berlin reportedly did not notice any such projections and suggested that the photos circulated online may have been manipulated.

However, additional images and videos of the event posted on social media, showing it was not fake and did in fact take place. This appears to have been confirmed later when the Eastern Police Directorate acknowledged that an investigation was underway. (via Tagesspiegel)

Authorities are looking into whether the projections included unconstitutional symbols, which would be illegal under German law. A spokesperson from the Frankfurt (Oder) public prosecutor’s office confirmed that they are examining the case for potential violations related to banned imagery.
