Kia has officially revealed Canadian pricing for the all-new 2027 EV5, a compact electric SUV that will be sold exclusively in Canada for the North American market. Reservations open December 4 at 2:00 p.m. EST, ahead of first deliveries in the first half of 2026.
Kia had initially planned to launch the EV5 as a 2026 model, but the company has now confirmed it will arrive as a 2027 model year instead.
Slotting between the upcoming EV4 sedan and existing EV6 crossover, the EV5 is roughly the size of the Sportage but adopts the sharper, EV9-inspired design language that Kia has been rolling out across its electric lineup. Built on the E-GMP platform, the EV5 uses 400-volt architecture rather than the 800-volt system found in higher-end Kia EVs.
The trade-off helps keep costs down while still providing a 10–80% fast charge time of about 30 minutes, according to Kia’s early estimates. Every EV5 sold in Canada comes equipped with a NACS port for direct access to the Tesla Supercharger network.

Canadian buyers will have two battery options: a standard-range pack on the base Light trim and an 81.4 kWh long-range pack beginning with the Wind trim. Official range numbers will not be announced until early 2026, but early impressions from international test drives suggest that front-wheel drive long-range versions should land somewhere in the mid-400 km range. Power comes from a 160 kW motor on FWD models or a dual-motor AWD setup with 262 hp and a 0–100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds.
Inside, the EV5 brings a premium look and feel to the compact EV segment. A nearly 30-inch panoramic display houses both the digital cluster and infotainment system, while synthetic leather seating, a heated steering wheel, and Kia’s latest sustainability-focused interior materials appear on mid-level trims and above. Cargo is a major selling point, with 805 litres available behind the second row, a completely flat load floor when the seats are folded, and a small front trunk for added convenience.

Where Kia is really making the EV5 stand out is in the number of trims. There are nine versions of the electric SUV, with prices ranging from $43,495 all the way to $61,495. The lineup starts with the Light Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) at $43,495, followed by the Wind FWD at $47,495 and Wind All-Wheel Drive (AWD) at $49,995. The Land trim mirrors those prices in FWD and AWD form, while the GT-Line and GT-Line Limited push the EV5 into more premium territory, topping out at $61,495 for the GT-Line Limited AWD.
The base Light trim will not be available until late 2026, meaning the initial launch will focus on the long-range models.
As one of three more affordable Kia EVs arriving next year, the EV5 is expected to play a major role in Kia’s Canadian EV strategy. With competitive pricing, a wide range of configurations, and Supercharger access built in from day one, it enters the market as one of the most versatile non-Tesla EV options Canadian buyers will see in 2026.
