2024 Honda Prologue gets 300 mile range, sub US$50k price

Honda is gearing up to finally enter the electric vehicle (EV) market with its highly-anticipated 2024 Honda Prologue. After unveiling the EV nearly one year ago, the Japanese automaker revealed more details and specs for the electric SUV today, including its anticipated range and more.

Design

Inside, the Prologue boasts a modern Honda design, featuring a low dash, thin-looking dash, and a full-width air vent design, and an 11-inch instrument screen and 11.3-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard.

In terms of size, the Prologue fits between Honda’s CR-V and Pilot models. It offers ample interior space, with 136.9 cubic feet, and 25.2 cubic feet of storage behind the rear seats and 57.7 cubic feet with the seats folded down. However, it’s worth mentioning that there’s no frunk (front trunk) available.

Power and Performance

The Honda Prologue is built on the GM Ultium EV architecture, upon which Honda will be offering two powertrain options. The standard configuration features a single-motor, rear-drive setup, while an optional dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system will also be available. Both configurations come equipped with an 85-kWh battery pack capable of fast charging at 155 kW. Honda estimates that the most efficient Prologue will achieve 300 miles (483km) on a single charge.

The dual-motor variant delivers 288 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque. Honda says it has fine-tuned the suspension for an engaging driving experience.

Trim Levels

The 2024 Prologue comes in three trim levels. The base EX offers front-wheel drive, 19-inch wheels, heated cloth seats, dual-zone climate control, and wireless device charging. Stepping up to the Touring trim adds leather seats, a memory setting for the driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, and more. The top-of-the-line Elite trim includes all-wheel drive, 21-inch wheels, ventilated leather seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, and a sport drive mode.

Charging

Honda will be offering three charging packages as standard with all Prologue models. Customers can choose from an 11.5-kW home charger with installation incentives, a portable charging kit with installation credits and public charging credits, or simply $750 in public charging credits.

Pricing and Availability

While final pricing has yet to be announced, Honda has indicated that the Prologue will start in the upper US$40,000 range. No pricing was announced for the Canadian market, but a straight exchange puts it in the vicinity of C$60,000-C$67,000.

The 2024 Honda Prologue is set to arrive at dealers in the first quarter of 2024.
