Dodge’s iconic muscle car, the Charger, is making a leap into the electric age with the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona. This high-performance electric coupe will soon roll off the production line in Windsor, Ontario, and hit dealerships in Quebec and British Columbia this fall. The EV will then expand to other parts of the country as production ramps up.
Canadian & US Pricing
One of the most surprising aspects for Canadian customers is the pricing. The base Charger Daytona R/T is priced at C$54,995, plus a C$2,695 destination fee. This pricing strategy not only makes it cheaper than its US counterpart, which starts at US$59,595, but it is also expected to qualify for federal and provincial rebates.
In Quebec, customers will be able to benefit from a C$5,000 federal rebate and a C$7,000 provincial rebate, for a C$12,000 discount on the price.
However, the story is different in British Columbia. Due to recent changes in the provincial rebate criteria, which lowered the price limit to $50,000, the Charger Daytona R/T will not be eligible for provincial rebates in BC.
Specs & Features
The Charger Daytona R/T powered by a pair of electric motors producing 496 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain enables the vehicle to reach 60mph in just 4.7 seconds and cover a quarter-mile in 13.1 seconds. Even with the impressive performance, the estimated range is an equally impressive 510km (317 miles).
But if that’s not enough for you, the Charger Daytona Scat Pack offers even more – 670 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with the Direct Connection Stage 2 Upgrade and Track Package, this model accelerates to 60mph in a 3.3 seconds and completes the quarter-mile in 11.5 seconds. The range for the Scat Pack is slightly lower at 418km (260 miles), but that is to be expected with the increased power.
The Charger Daytona R/T and Scat Pack come with a variety of optional packages to enhance comfort, technology, and performance. The Plus Group (C$9,495) includes leatherette low-back bucket seats with ventilation, a power rear hatch, a head-up display, a 360-degree camera system, and 20-inch wheels.
For those who prefer a darker aesthetic, the Blacktop Group (C$2,005) adds dark exterior badges and 20×9-inch Dark Aluminum wheels.
The Sun and Sound Group (C$3,695) offers a full glass roof and an 18-speaker Alpine PRO audio system, while the Carbon and Suede Group (C$3,995) provides high-back performance seats, carbon-fibre inserts, and suede finishes throughout the interior.
Exclusive to the Scat Pack is the 3-Season Tire Pack (C$995), which equips the vehicle with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar three-season tires for enhanced grip and performance.
