Tesla is rapidly expanding the number of markets where they offer the Model Y. The latest to join the list is the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where Tesla opened the Design Studio for orders on Monday.
The launch of the Model Y in the UAE is a little different than others in that only the Long Range (LR) variant is available to order. According to Tesla’s website the electric SUV starts at a base price of AED 234,990 ($81,600 CAD), a fair premium over the price in North America.
Buyers can pick between the regular options like paint and wheels, as well adding the tow hitch.
Customers placing an order for the Model Y in the UAE will have to temper their excitement just a bit as the first units will arrive in early 2022.
Full Self-Driving (FSD) is also an optional add-on. Since it is just software it is comparatively priced at AED 28,100 ($9,700 CAD).
Those not quite willing to make the jump to the full feature suite can opt for Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) for AED 14,100 ($4,900 CAD).
The addition of the Model Y means Tesla now offers their full lineup in the UAE. The automaker currently has a network of 5 Superchargers in the country, with another 4 planned to open before the end of Q1 2022.
