Police in Brantford, Ontario recently pulled over a Tesla Model Y and Lamborghini Gallardo after the pair were caught racing on a local highway.
On June 1, 2021 at about 8:30pm, the Brantford Police Service observed the two cars attempting to overtake each other on Wayne Gretzky Parkway. The speed limit along that stretch of road is 70km/h (43mph), but officers estimated they were travelling more than double that between 150km/h and 200km/h (93mph – 124mph).
Police were able to pull them over at the Highway 403 West off-ramp, where both drivers, a 33-year-old male driver from Brantford and a 36-year-old male driver from Scotland, were charged with street racing.
They also had their drivers licenses suspended and cars impounded for 7 days.
This story follow another just last week of a Tesla caught racing a Toyota Supra in Vancouver at speeds in excess of 170km/h (105mph). Police were made aware of the incident thanks to the Tesla owner posting a video of the race to social media.
