Tesla launches Model Y Long Range RWD, Quicksilver for Model 3 in the UK

Tesla made two changes to its Design Studio in the United Kingdom (UK) on Friday, introducing a new entry-level variant of the Model Y, and a new paint option for the Model 3.

Now available on the online configurator in the UK is the Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), the most efficient version of the electric SUV. This new entry-level Model Y is priced at £46,990 (C$83,600), and offers a significant range increase compared to its predecessor, which should quickly make it a best seller.

Replacing the outgoing RWD version, the LR RWD delivers an impressive 373 miles (600 km) of range on a single charge, according to the more generous WLTP estimates. This is a 90 mile (145 km) improvement over the RWD model, which had a range of 283 miles (456 km).

Those range figures are with the standard 19″ Gemini wheels, so opting for the 20″ Induction wheels drops the range slightly to a still impressive 351 miles (565 km).

In terms of pricing, the new Long Range RWD is £2,000 (C$3,600) more expensive than its predecessor, but is £6,000 (C$10,600) less expensive than the Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) model, which costs £52,990 (C$94,300) and has a range of 331 miles (533 km).

Along with the new Model Y variant, Tesla also launched Quicksilver paint for the Model 3 in the UK. Quicksilver has been added to markets around the world over the last several months, now making its way to the UK. As with other markets, Quicksilver is the most expensive paint option for the Model 3, priced at £2,000 (C$3,600).
