Tesla launches first discounts on new Model Y demo inventory in the U.S.

Tesla has quietly introduced its first discounts on demo units of the newly refreshed Model Y in the United States. While discounts are now available in the U.S., inventory of the new Model Y is still unavailable in Canada as all pre-tariff inventory is now sold out.

In the U.S., these discounted Model Y vehicles are part of Tesla’s demo fleet – vehicles that have been lightly used for test drives and showroom display. According to Tesla’s inventory listings, most of the demo cars have between 500 and 2,000 miles on the odometer, with the size of the discount generally increasing with mileage.

Vehicles with fewer than 1,000 miles tend to receive around US$510 off, while those closer to 2,000 miles or more are eligible for up to US$1,070 in savings, based on a review of listings in southern California by Drive Tesla.

In addition to the standard Model Y demo units, Tesla also has a limited selection of Launch Series Model Y demos at a discount. These limited-edition vehicles come fully equipped with premium features, Acceleration Boost, tow hitch, and Full Self-Driving (Supervised) included in the base price, which can be discounted by between US$600 to US$1,200, again depending on the mileage of the vehicle.

1.99% Financing Offer Available Until June 16

For those looking to order a new Model Y Long Range AWD rather than a demo, Tesla is currently offering 1.99% interest financing on new orders. This offer has been around since last month, and is valid only until June 16, and only applies to the Long Range AWD variant. A 15% down payment is also required to qualify for the promotional interest rate, although that can be reduced if you qualify for the US$7,500 federal tax credit.

Model Y Inventory in Canada

As noted above, there is currently no inventory of Model Y in Canada, either of the legacy or refreshed version. Tesla used to have a large inventory of legacy Model Ys that were imported into the country before 25% tariffs were introduced, but those have since sold out.

The company also had a limited number of inventory units of the new Launch Series Model Y, but those have also since sold out, leaving customers with the only option of purchasing a brand new Model Y, but for a hefty price of C$84,990.
