For those hoping to get their hands on one of the much-anticipated low-cost Tesla vehicles, you will have to wait a little longer, if a recent report from Reuters is correct.
Sources told the publication that Tesla is delaying the launch of the low-cost Model Y, codenamed E41, by several months. The sources confirmed that it would be at least months later than Tesla’s public plan of June, and the revised launch targets range from quarter three to early next year.
Previously, it was rumoured that Tesla was aiming to produce 250,000 E41s in 2026, but it is unclear if the delayed launch will also impact these production targets. The E41 is also launching in Tesla’s other main markets, with a launch in China planned for 2026 and a launch in Europe soon after.
The E41 in China will be twenty percent cheaper and slightly smaller than the refreshed Model Y. In Europe, the plan is a little less clear, with no launch or pricing revealed as of yet.
We should learn more about the company’s plans with Tesla’s results report due on Tuesday.
