First Look Inside Tesla’s New Model Y L Six-Seater SUV

Tesla’s upcoming Model Y L has finally been revealed from the inside, and the first real-world look confirms what many have been hoping for: a family-friendly six-seater SUV with an upgraded interior that balances luxury, comfort, and practicality.

A True Six-Seater Configuration

The most obvious update in the Model Y L is its six-seater configuration. Instead of a traditional second-row bench, Tesla has opted for captain’s chairs in the middle row, complete with powered armrests. This setup creates a more spacious, premium feel and provides easier access to the third row. Families who prioritize comfort for every passenger will likely see this as a major upgrade.

The third row, while compact, benefits from some thoughtful design tweaks that were missing in the 7-seat configuration. The most notable are the additional vents positioned on the C-pillar, giving rear passengers improved airflow. Combined with cupholders and rear vents, the third-row seating experience feels more accommodating than previous Model Y configurations.

Redesigned Seating and Comfort Features

Tesla has introduced all-new seat designs across the Model Y L interior. The front seats are more contoured, with improved comfort thanks to adjustable headrests, lumbar support, and even leg-rest extensions. These changes suggest Tesla is listening closely to customer feedback, as longer drives should now feel noticeably more comfortable.

Equally important, both the second and third rows are power-foldable, a convenience feature that allows the cabin to transform into a flat cargo floor with just the press of a button. This fold-flat capability makes the Model Y L particularly versatile, meeting the needs of both daily commutes and road trips.

Upgraded Cabin Design

Beyond the seating, Tesla has refined nearly many elements of the interior. Tesla has opted for a black headliner that gives the cabin a sleek, modern look, while aluminum accents run across the doors and dashboard to add a premium feel. New door panels and subtle design touches make the space feel more upscale than the standard Model Y.

Combined with the glass roof that continues to be a signature Tesla feature, the cabin feels airy yet controlled in terms of temperature.

What’s Next

The Model Y has been Tesla’s best-selling vehicle globally, and the introduction of the Model Y L six-seater variant could broaden its appeal even further.

The Model Y L will first be released in China, but based on findings in a recent firmware update, the vehicle will eventually be available globally.

While Tesla hasn’t provided an official release date, the company did post a teaser video saying it’s “coming soon.”
