Edmunds says the Model Y is ‘another winner’, ready to steal sales from luxury brands

The Tesla Model Y has been out for a little over a month now, and so far the reviews for the electric SUV have been excellent.

Edmunds, an online resource for automotive information and car buying advice, recently received their Model Y test vehicle, and have now posted their review, calling it an “extremely compelling vehicle”.

In its review, Edmunds says the Model Y provides some of the best value for money, comparing it to the likes of the more expensive BMW X3 M, Mercedes Benz GLC 63, and Porsche Macan.

While they do note the interior of the Model Y doesn’t quite match up to those vehicles, the value lies in all the technology features found in the SUV.

As expected, Edmunds had nothing but good things to say about the performance of the Performance Model Y, calling the instant electric acceleration we all know and love as “bonkers”.

Edmunds appears to be real fans of the Model Y, and believe it will steal a lot of sales from legacy automakers, much like the Model S, Model 3, and Model X have done previously.

Both the groundbreaking Model S and popular Model 3 have stolen sales from more traditional luxury brands and garnered plenty of fans. The Model Y has the hardware and tech to do just the same, even as more direct alternatives appear.

Edmunds has had a bit of a love-hate relationship with Tesla. The publication excluded the Model 3 from its list of “Best EVs under $40K” list. After Tesla fans let them know about the sub-$40K (in the US) Standard Range Model 3, Edmunds awarded the Model 3 the title of Best Electric Car.
