The Tesla Model 3 saw strong sales in Germany in February, enough to put it ahead of the hometown favourite, the Volkswagen ID.3.
In the shortened 28-day month, Tesla registered 1,910 sales in Germany. That was 18 more than the popular ID.3, which saw 1,892 sales in February according to data from the EV Sales Blog.
The figures were enough to put Tesla in second place overall in EV sales in Germany.
The only EV able to outsell the Model 3 was another car from VW, the e-Up! What makes the 2,215 sales stand out is that figure is a personal best for the EV, which has been around since 2013.
Tesla now sits eighth place overall in year-to-date EV sales in Germany. In January, a typically slow month for Tesla, just 422 Model 3’s were sold compared to 1,799 for the VW ID.3.
