Tesla’s Giga Nevada recently achieved an impressive production milestone, manufacturing over 1,000 Powerwall units in a single day.
The milestone was announced by the Tesla Energy account on X, sharing a photo of the Powerwall team at Giga Nevada celebrating the milestone standing behind two Powerwall 3 units, with helium balloons in the background that have become customary for similar milestones.

This is the second Powerwall production milestone announced by Tesla in recent months. Back in August Tesla said the factory produced 500 units in a single shift, which was itself a new record at the time. This does not indicate a doubling of Powerwall production output at Giga Nevada however, as that milestone was for a single shift, whereas this was for daily production, which consists of two 12-hour shifts.
The Powerwall, a home battery that enables energy storage and backup power during outages, has gained significant traction in markets around the world. The Powerwall has also been critical in expanding Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) around the world. These VPPs allow Powerwall owners to contribute energy back to the grid during times of high demand, creating a decentralized network of energy storage.
According to the most recent update from Tesla last month, over 100,000 Powerwalls globally are already enrolled in such programs.

Giga Nevada has long been an essential facility for Tesla’s battery production, not only for energy storage products but also for batteries for its electric vehicles (EVs) through a partnership with Panasonic. Last year Giga Nevada saw its production of Megapacks, Tesla’s utility-scale battery, move to the new dedicated Megafactory in Lathrop, California, which recently celebrated the production of its 10,000th Megapack.
