Tesla brings FSD to the Cybertruck with 2024.32.20 [FSD v12.5.5]

Tesla has finally launched Full Self-Driving (FSD) for the Cybertruck, with the release of software update 2024.32.20, which includes FSD v12.5.5. Not only is this the first version of FSD compatible with the Cybertruck, it is also the first version to feature a complete end-to-end neural network.

The Cybertruck has been in the hands of owners since late last year, but despite all of the Foundation Series Cybertrucks coming with FSD included in the price, Tesla had not actually released FSD for the Cybertruck in the ten months since its release.

Earlier this month Tesla’s AI team on X laid out the development roadmap for FSD, which included a release of FSD for the Cybertruck before the end of September, among other items. With just over a day to spare, Tesla followed through on that promise, releasing software update 2024.32.20 and FSD v12.5.5 on Sunday.

According to the release notes shared by Cybertruck owners on X, the update is the first for any Tesla vehicle that includes end-to-end neural network for highways. Until now the end-to-end neural network has been limited to city-streets on Tesla’s other models, which was first released earlier this year with FSD v12, a change that brought a significant improvement to the capabilities and behaviours of FSD over previous versions.

According to Tesla’ AI a version Tesla’s Director of Autopilot software Ashok Elluswamy, the team is focusing end-to-end highway driving on Cybertruck first, but there are plans to release a version for other models to employees “in the next week or so.” If all goes well with that testing, we could see end-to-end highway driving on the Model S/X/3/Y in mid to late October.

The release notes also indicate that this is an early access build, and for owners to “use additional caution and remain attentive.” It also includes sunglasses support for vision-based monitoring.

Tesla says that future versions of FSD for the Cybertruck will see the following improvements:

  • Earlier and more natural lane change decisions
  • Improved performance in parking lots
  • Improved performance at intersections and stops
  • Introduction of Speed Profile

Here is one of the first videos of the Cybertruck driving itself with FSD v12.5.5.

Here are the full release notes for 2024.32.20.

FSD (Supervised) v12 upgrades the city-streets driving stack to a single end-to-end neural network trained on millions of video clips, replacing over 300k lines of explicit C++ code.

  • Includes vision-based attention monitoring with sunglasses
  • Includes End to End on Highway

Upcoming Improvements:

  • Earlier and more natural lane change decisions
  • Improved performance in parking lots
  • Improved performance at intersections and stops
  • Introduction of Speed Profile

Note: This is an early access build. You and anyone you authorize must use additional caution and remain attentive. It does not make your vehicle autonomous. Do not become complacent.
