Tesla has opened another Supercharger in Canada, this time in Kananaskis, Alberta. This is the sixth Supercharger to be turned on in Canada in the past month, and it is also the second V4 Supercharger in Canada.
The Kananaskis Supercharger first appeared on our radar back in April, and thanks to its fairly remote location, was almost completely built at the time it was discovered. Despite this, the site sat idle for several months, like many other projects across Canada.
We reached out to Tesla for an update on the situation with the stalled projects, and the company said it planned to open the Kananaskis Supercharger in August.
They missed that timeline, but only by a few days. On Thursday the power was turned on and one of the first cars to plug in and charge was one of our readers, Kateryna (@KaterynaKhoros2).

The Kananaskis Supercharger is located next to the Stoney Nakoda Resort and Casino, and features 12 V4 stalls. Despite being V4 charging posts, the supporting infrastructure is the same as V3 sites, so the charging speeds still peak at 250kW. The first V4 Supercharger in Canada, or V3.5 as Tesla refers to them, opened in Langley, BC last week.
According to the Tesla mobile app, plugging in at Kananaskis will cost $0.67/kWh.
With Kananaskis now open, that leaves North Saanich (BC) and Digby (NS) as the last two sites that Tesla said it hoped to open in August.
