New Tesla Model 3 deliveries kick off in Germany

Tesla has started the first deliveries of the newly updated Model 3. The company kicked off deliveries  in Germany over the weekend, seven weeks after the refresh design was unveiled in China.

One of the first known deliveries went to TFF forum user D0Dave, who took possession of his new white Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) in Bielefeld, a city in the north-east section of the country on Saturday. According to the lucky new owner the car was delivered at a 100% state of charge (SOC) with just 10km (6 miles) on the odometer.

He noted that the car appeared to have Hardware 4.0 (HW4) cameras, as the lenses have the same red reflection that has been seen on HW4-equipped cars in North America. Despite having the updated cameras, the car does not include the HW4 computer, as Giga Shanghai has yet to transition to the new computer. He also noted the chassis felt “really good” on bumpy roads and he experienced “no rumbling, no strong jerking,” and “not much wind noise” at speeds up to 130km/h (81mph).

D0Dave also shared some photos of his new car, showing the new taillights illuminated, the new ambient lighting on the dash (no glare off the windshield), and several photos of the interior.

Now that deliveries have started, we should see many more reports from lucky new owners in the days ahead. The company has heavily marketing the new Model 3 across Europe, holding special launch and unveiling events at showrooms across the region.

There have also been numerous sightings of cargo trucks loaded with the electric sedan all over Europe.

Even though the new Model 3 is only made at Giga Shanghai, there have been no deliveries in China yet, but those are expected to begin later this month. As for North America, there is still no indication that Fremont is ready to start producing the new design, but based on internal communication from Tesla they are hoping to launch it in Canada and the US early next year.
