Polestar has announced they have produced the 100,000th Polestar 2 electric sedan.
The milestone vehicle rolled off the production line at the automaker’s factory in Luqiao, China, two and a half years after production first began.
“It’s an amazing achievement – especially given we launched the Polestar 2 during the pandemic. Thank you to the team and all our customers who have joined us on this exciting journey,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.
According to Polestar, their 100,000th EV will soon be delivered to a customer in Ireland, one of the newest markets the Swedish automaker has expanded into. The milestone EV will be delivered with unique door markings celebrating the achievement.
Even though it launched over two years ago, Polestar will delivering around half of their total production this year alone, with the automaker estimating they will deliver 50,000 Polestar 2 EVs in 27 markets around the world this year.
The Polestar 2 will soon be joined by the Polestar 3, an electric SUV that is available to order in North America, Europe, and China, with the first deliveries in those markets expected to take place in Q4 2023.
The long range dual motor Polestar 3 will start at $97,400 CAD, plus another $2,500 in destination charges. Adding the Performance pack brings the price up to $104,400 CAD.
