The first Tesla police car in Canada has officially joined the Bridgewater Police Service in Nova Scotia. The electric cruiser will have its first shift on Thursday evening.
According to a post on the Bridgewater Police Service’s social media channels, the Model 3 has been outfitted with police equipment and the department’s livery, and will report for duty this evening at 7:00pm local time.

Mayor David Mitchell announced the purchase of the Tesla Model 3 earlier this year, saying at the time they went with Tesla as it was the only EV suitable for police use. Since they went with the Long Range variant, the short delivery timeframe was also a driving factor in their purchase.
While this is the first Tesla police car in Canada, it won’t be the last. The West Shore RCMP on Vancouver Island will be receiving a Tesla Model Y later this year, along with a Ford Mustang Mach-E.
It is also not the first electric police car on active duty in Canada. In May the City of Repentigny in Quebec took delivery of its first electric police vehicle, a Ford Mustang Mach-E.
