All the necessary paperwork to finally approve the start of production at Giga Berlin has now been submitted, both from Tesla and the relevant authorities.
The environment ministry of the German state of Brandenburg confirmed the filings on Wednesday, saying the approval process is still ongoing (via Reuters).
The statement comes after reports earlier this week saying the delay in approval was the result of Tesla and others not submitting the required paperwork.
With the paperwork now in hand, Tesla will likely be given the green light to start production in January.
Tesla had originally hoped to open the new factory as early as October, but that date has been pushed back several times.
The delay has been partly due to Tesla changing their plans to include a battery factory, and also because public consultations had to be repeated due to concerns the initial process wasn’t fair.
Even though the final approval hasn’t been provided, Tesla has been working hard to make sure they can hit the ground running when they do.
The factory has already produced hundreds of test Model Ys, and have been perfecting the Paint Shop to introduce three new colours later next year.
