There are going to a lot more electric vehicle (EV) chargers added to Canada’s capital city over the next two years.
Thanks to a $2 million investment from the Government of Canada, up to 350 EV chargers will be installed across the City of Ottawa by 2023.
The exact locations have not yet been identified, but will be installed public places, multi-unit residential buildings, on-street, and at workplaces or facilities for servicing light-duty vehicle fleets.
Hydro Ottawa will be conducting a transparent selection process for the sites, and will be largely based on demand for EV charging stations.
The project is funded through Natural Resources Canada’s Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP). Investments in charging infrastructure made since 2015 have resulted in more than 17,000 new chargers available to Canadians.
