Xpeng is expecting to sell fewer cars in the first three months of the 2021 than Tesla sold in the first month of the year.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker announced yesterday it will likely deliver about 12,500 cars in the first quarter. With 6,015 sales in January and 2,223 in February, that means reaching about 4,250 cars in March.
When compared to Tesla, the number pales in comparison to their 15,484 sales in January. We also reported last night Tesla increased their sales in February to 18,318 units.
The numbers also fall short of Xpeng’s other main competitor in China. Last week Nio forecast deliveries of between 20,000 and 25,000 vehicles in Q1. Based on their January and February sales that equates to at least 7,200 deliveries in March.
Tesla is the only EV maker in China in 2021 so far to see increasing sales.
