Tesla Update 2026.8 Adds Comfort Braking, Spotify Upgrade and New Cybertruck Safety Feature

Software update

Tesla has just introduced a new software update,  2026.8, which focuses on improving comfort and usability for owners. While the update adds new features, they are specific to certain vehicles in the lineup

One new feature just for the new Model Y Juniper is Comfort Braking. According to the release notes this feature provides a smoother user experience during routine braking.

We’re not exactly sure what part of the braking experience needed improvement, as we haven’t heard any complaints from owners of these vehicles, however if you receive this update, let us know if there is a noticeable difference in braking.

Also, Tesla owners can now navigate Spotify more seamlessly. Rather than scrolling through long playlists, a new feature lets you jump to the bottom of the list.

Meanwhile for Cybertruck owners, the 2026.8 software update now has the Blind Spot Warning While Parked feature. While it is a new addition to the Cybertruck, it was first introduced on the Tesla Model 3 with the 2024.26.9 Summer Update in China and the 2024.44+ Holiday Update in other areas. Tesla explains how it works.

“If you attempt to open a door while an approaching object is detected in your blind spot (for example, a bicyclist approaching from behind), the blind spot indicator light flashes, a chime sounds, and your door will not open upon initial button press. Wait a short time and press the button a second time to override the warning.”

Other minor additions include a British accent option for Leo on Grok AI and allowing users to hide suggested destinations in Navigation, giving the driver more control. As with all updates, this one will be gradually rolled out to all its EVs. At the moment, it has been seen on Model 3 and Model Y.

To see whether it is available on their vehicle, Tesla owners are advised to check the Software section of their Tesla app. Tesla has been rolling out a series of software updates, with the latest released just a few weeks ago. It followed Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) orders that the auto company adjust how it portrays its driver-assistance technology.
