Tesla finally launches redesigned CCS adapter for Cybertruck

Tesla has finally released a CCS adapter for the Cybertruck that actually works with the stainless-steel pickup. The new CCS1 to NACS adapter is now available in both Canada and the United States, giving Cybertruck owners access to a much broader network of third-party DC fast chargers.

The launch comes more than two years after the Cybertruck debuted, leaving early owners to discover that Tesla’s original CCS adapter was incompatible with the Cybertruck. While the truck uses Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), many owners rely on CCS infrastructure in regions where Superchargers are sparse.

As we previously reported back in 2024, early tests showed that the original CCS adapter physically could not seat properly in the Cybertruck’s charging port. The port’s recessed placement inside the rear wheel arch, combined with the bulky shape of the adapter, prevented a full connection. Even after removing the wheel arch trim to force a fit, charging attempts on high-voltage CCS stations failed.

Tesla’s newly released CCS1 to NACS adapter appears to directly address that design flaw. The redesigned adapter includes a noticeable “bump-out,” providing additional clearance so it can properly connect within the Cybertruck’s recessed charge port without removing any body panels.

In Canada, the adapter is priced at $275, while owners in the U.S. will pay $275. According to Tesla, the adapter supports charging speeds of up to 250 kW at compatible third-party stations.

For Cybertruck owners in Canada, this update is particularly significant. While Tesla’s Supercharger network is extensive along major corridors like the Trans-Canada Highway, coverage remains limited in more remote regions where CCS infrastructure is often the only viable fast-charging option.
