Tesla App Update 4.51 Adds Immersive Weather for Powerwall, Shop Gifting, Hebrew Support, and More

Tesla’s newest mobile app update, version 4.51.0, has been rolled out on the iOS App Store—and a de-compile of the release by Tesla App Updates on X reveals it is a feature-packed update. From a visually rich weather experience for Powerwall owners to the return of code pointing toward upcoming screen-recording tools, the update brings both fun and meaningful backend upgrades that make the app faster and more capable behind the scenes.

Real-Time Weather for Powerwall

Powerwall owners are getting what might be the most visually impressive change. Tesla has introduced fully dynamic weather-based animations that transform the home screen into a real-time reflection of outdoor conditions. The background of the app now shifts with the sun, clouds, storms, and even nighttime stars.

Gifting in the Tesla Shop

Just in time for the holiday season, Tesla has added a new feature to the in-app Shop. Owners can now send accessories and apparel directly to someone else with:

  • A recipient name and email
  • A personalized gift message (up to 206 characters)
  • Optional gift wrapping for $5

It’s a much more polished approach compared to the simple checkout process Tesla has used until now, and could pave the way for future holiday-themed promotions or Tesla-branded gift bundles.

Screen Share Returns—And Stronger Hints of Remote Screen Recording

The string screenShareToken has resurfaced in the codebase, reinforcing earlier findings that Tesla is working on secure remote screen-sharing and possibly screen-recording capabilities. The updated architecture suggests:

  • A secure authentication token for encrypted video streaming
  • Support for remote diagnostics between Tesla technicians and owners
  • A potential user-facing “record your screen” option—perfect for documenting FSD behaviour, troubleshooting, or creating how-to videos

With Tesla’s Holiday Update approaching, this could be one of the headline features.

New “FSD Impacted” Alerts

The update also includes a new status string—FSD_IMPACTED—indicating the app will soon notify users when Full Self-Driving performance is degraded. Instead of discovering camera blockage, heavy rain, or glare only once you’re in the car, owners may soon receive these alerts while preconditioning the vehicle or initiating a remote action like Smart Summon.

Hebrew Support & a Major Backend Upgrade

Tesla has officially added Hebrew language support, expanding accessibility for Israeli customers. This addition comes just a few weeks after it was requested at the annual shareholder meeting, a request to which Elon Musk was surprised it wasn’t already supported.

Behind the scenes, the app is undergoing a large architectural shift with the introduction of Apollo GraphQL. This modernizes Tesla’s data fetching, reducing latency, eliminating unnecessary network calls, and improving performance in data-heavy areas like Energy graphs and vehicle status screens.

With immersive visuals, new communication tools, expanded language support, and the strongest evidence yet of remote screen-recording, Tesla’s 4.51.0 app update sets the stage for a potentially big Holiday Software Update. As always, more hidden features may surface in the days ahead.
