Rogers has extended its free Rogers Satellite trial by more than a month, moving the end date from October 31 to December 8, 2025, as the company continues to refine its satellite connectivity service in partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink network.
The extension was announced directly to customers via text message this week, reading: “Hello! The Rogers Satellite trial period has been extended to December 8, 2025, so you can continue enjoying coverage in areas without cell service.” (via Reddit)

Rogers also updated the information on its website, suggesting that it may be extended again, saying “the trial is expected to end December 8, 2025, subject to change, pending capabilities development.”
The Rogers Satellite program launched a few months ago as part of the carrier’s broader initiative to bring connectivity to rural and remote regions across Canada. Built on Starlink’s satellite network, the service enables users to send and receive text messages via satellite when they’re outside of traditional cellular coverage.
Initially, the trial focused on providing emergency and basic communication access to select users, particularly in areas like Northern Ontario, Atlantic Canada, and parts of British Columbia. Rogers was the first major Canadian carrier to integrate Starlink’s Direct-to-Cell technology, joining similar efforts by U.S. operators like T-Mobile.
Since then, the program has expanded to provide three times more mobile coverage than any other wireless provider in the country.
Earlier this month, the company also announced plans to expand the service beyond basic satellite texting and voice calls to include support for data and popular apps.
