Rivian has announced a major upgrade to its charging capabilities just in time for the holiday travel season. In partnership with Electrify America and Ionna, the automaker is rolling out new integrations that bring real-time station data and seamless payment functions to more charging networks nationwide.
With the upcoming 2025.38 software update, Rivian drivers will gain access to live charging information—such as charger availability, power levels, and reliability scores—directly via their in-vehicle navigation system and mobile app.
Making the experience even more seamless, drivers can look forward to Plug & Charge functionality at Electrify America and IONNA stations, eliminating the need for extra apps, cards, or PINs when it’s time to charge.

“With the next software update, we’re adding realtime charger availability and speeds into Rivian’s navigation and mobile app, plus Plug & Charge for two popular networks: Electrify America and IONNA,” Rivian announced. “You’ll be able to see more information about a stop and then seamlessly charge and pay at Electrify America’s more than 5,000 chargers and growing, as well as all IONNA Rechargeries.”
Rivian’s collaboration with IONNA is part of a broader push to simplify electric-vehicle infrastructure. IONNA, backed by multiple automakers, is building an EV charging network targeting 30,000 charging stalls across the U.S. by 2030.
