SpaceX’s transition to a fully electric fleet of work trucks is officially underway, and it’s being led by none other than Tesla’s stainless-steel Cybertruck. Over the past week, multiple deliveries of Cybertrucks have been spotted at SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas, as well as the company’s Starlink factory in Bastrop.
The move marks the beginning of a long-anticipated effort by SpaceX to retire its internal combustion engine (ICE) support vehicles and replace them with Cybertrucks designed and built by CEO Elon Musk’s other company, Tesla.
Photos and videos shared online show two trailer loads of Cybertrucks arriving at SpaceX’s Starbase site on October 6, 2025. The trucks are also being distributed at SpaceX’s Starlink factory in Bastrop. At both facilities, the Cybertrucks are expected to serve as work vehicles for engineering teams, logistics staff, and operations crews.

Wes Morrill, an engineer who worked on the Cybertruck program at Tesla, celebrated the milestone on social media.
“Love to see the ICE support fleets from Tesla and SpaceX get replaced with Cybertruck,” he wrote on X. “When we were engineering it, this was always part of the dream. Never imagined how hard the fleet photos at Starbase would go. Looking forward to more of this.”
According to Morrill, the deployment fulfills a long-held vision within Tesla’s engineering team — to have its own electric truck replace the gas-powered vehicles used by both Tesla and SpaceX employees.
Tesla and SpaceX have previously shown off the Cybertruck’s capabilities, with the electric pickup seen towing a SpaceX Raptor rocket booster at Starbase.
