Tesla increases prices on CCS adapter and retrofit in Canada and the U.S.

Tesla has quietly increased the prices of its CCS Combo 1 Adapter and associated retrofit services for Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y vehicles. The price adjustments impact both Canadian and U.S. customers.

Tesla’s CCS Combo 1 Adapter allows owners to access third-party DC fast chargers that use the Combined Charging System (CCS) standard, expanding charging options beyond the Supercharger network. Newer cars from late 2022 have this capability from the factory, but cars built prior to this date require an updated charge port control board to connect to a CCS charger.

Since Tesla’s in North America are only built with a North American Charging Standard (NACS), or J3400, charge port, a CCS adapter is also required to be able to charge at a CCS charger.

Price Changes in Canada

  • CCS Combo 1 Adapter: Increased from $350 to $430 (+$80)
  • CCS Combo 1 Adapter Model S/X Retrofit with Adapter: Increased from $415 to $545 (+$130)
  • CCS Combo 1 Adapter Model 3/Y Retrofit with Adapter: Increased from $310 to $475 (+$165)

Price Changes in the United States

  • CCS Combo 1 Adapter: Increased from $250 to $300 (+$50)
  • CCS Combo 1 Adapter Model S/X Retrofit with Adapter: Increased from $300 to $380 (+$80)
  • CCS Combo 1 Adapter Model 3/Y Retrofit with Adapter: Increased from $225 to $330 (+$105)

While these are steep price increases, they are still less than when Tesla first started offering the CCS retrofit for the Model 3/Y in March 2024, when it was priced at C$475/US$350.
