Tesla has officially introduced inventory discounts on brand-new Cybertrucks in the United States for the first time. The price cuts apply to non-Foundation Series Cybertrucks, with discounts reaching nearly US$2,000 on new vehicles and over US$3,300 on demo models.
With the first deliveries of the “regular” Cybertrucks starting in late 2023, the electric pickup truck got a lower price point, with the base model starting at US$79,990, and the tri-motor Cyberbeast starting at US$99,990. However, just a few months after being introduced, Tesla has started reducing the price on these Cybertrucks.
According to Tesla’s inventory listings, new All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Cybertrucks can now be purchased with discounts as high as US$1,710, while Cyberbeast discounts can reach above US$2,000. In addition, using a referral link allows buyers to stack an extra US$1,000 off.
Demo Cybertrucks, which have some mileage and have been used for showroom displays and test drives, come with bigger price reductions. Discounts on these vehicles vary based on mileage and specifications, with some trucks receiving discounts of over US$3,300.
Tesla is still only selling the Foundation Series Cybertruck in Canada, and there are still no Cybertrucks listed on Tesla’s Canadian inventory site.
What’s Next for the Cybertruck?
Tesla’s move to discount inventory Cybertrucks is notable, however it remains unclear whether these price adjustments will be temporary or the start of broader pricing changes. Historically, Tesla has made strategic price cuts on its vehicles to stimulate demand.
Despite being the best-selling pickup truck in the US in 2024, and the fifth best-selling EV overall, demand for the Cybertruck appears to be waning. Tesla doesn’t break out its Cybertruck sales figures, instead lumping them together with the Model S and Model X, but based on historical trends, it appears as though the company sold less Cybertrucks in Q4 than it did in Q3, even though the cheaper non-Foundation Series was introduced, and the Cybertruck’s expansion to Canada.
