The Boring Company could open Dubai Loop next year

The United Arab Emirates is hinting that the proposed Dubai Loop is expected to open soon, and that it could happen as soon as the second quarter of 2026. The confirmation of the loop’s opening date came from Omar Al Olama, the UAE Minister of AI, who stated:

The Dubai Loop was announced in February and is a partnership between the The Boring Company and the United Arab Emirates. The initial phase of the project will be 17 km long and carry around 20,000 passengers an hour.

It remains unclear whether the loop will feature Tesla vehicles, similar to those in the Las Vegas Loop, or utilize an alternative mode of transportation. Musk and the Boring Company had previously floated the idea of using custom-built vacuum pods or driverless vehicles for the Dubai Loop.

If the project does go ahead, it will mark a significant win for The Boring Company. However, there are some significant hurdles to overcome if the project is to open on time, including tunnelling, vehicle design, and station construction.

The Dubai Loop is one of many major infrastructure projects proposed or currently under development, designed to help alleviate congestion around the growing city.
