Tesla’s 2025.26 Software Update Adds Grok and More – But One Feature Will Be Missing for Canadian Drivers

Tesla has highlighted its next big software update, 2025.26, bringing a host of new features aimed at enhancing the driving and ownership experience. The update includes improvements to audio controls, lighting effects, Dashcam functionality, and an easier onboarding process for new owners.

But one of the most anticipated features—Grok, Tesla’s in-car conversational AI assistant—is notably absent for Canadian drivers.

Grok AI Now in Your Car (But Only in the U.S.)

Grok, Tesla’s custom chatbot built on xAI technology, is now available in beta form for U.S. customers with AMD-powered vehicles. The AI assistant is integrated directly into the vehicle interface and can be accessed with a Premium Connectivity subscription or a Wi-Fi connection.

However, Grok does not replace existing voice commands—it is a standalone tool and cannot issue commands to the car, such as adjusting climate or navigation settings, at least yet.

Unfortunately for Canadian Tesla owners, Grok will not be available in Canada—at least not yet. Tesla has not provided a timeline for when the feature might expand north of the border, leaving many owners disappointed.

Light Sync: A Visual Treat for Music Lovers

Owners of the new Model 3 and Model Y, the 2026 Model S/X, and Cybertruck can now enjoy Light Sync, a feature that enhances interior accent lighting. The lights now respond rhythmically to music and can even match the dominant color of the album art being played. This feature adds a more immersive ambiance, especially during nighttime drives. You’ll find it under Toybox > Light Sync.

Enhanced Audio Settings

Tesla’s 2025.26 update also brings customizable audio presets. Drivers can now create and save multiple audio profiles, allowing for quick transitions between different sound preferences—for example, bass-heavy settings for music or more balanced profiles for podcasts. The new feature is accessible under Controls > Audio.

Dashcam Viewer Improvements

Reviewing footage from your Tesla’s dashcam is now easier than ever. The update allows users to zoom in and adjust playback speed, making it more practical for reviewing incidents or monitoring surroundings. Cybertruck owners get an additional benefit with an updated Dashcam Viewer app that offers a grid view, simplifying access to recordings from multiple camera angles.

Smarter Charging Arrival Info

Finding and using Superchargers just got smarter. Tesla now displays additional information about charging sites, including whether valet service is required or if parking is pay-to-access. On arrival, drivers will receive a notification with details like access codes, parking restrictions, floor levels, and restroom availability—streamlining the entire experience.

New Owner Onboarding

For first-time Tesla owners, the 2025.26 update includes an Onboarding Guide for left-hand drive (LHD) versions of the new Model 3 and Model Y. The guide walks users through basic operations like adjusting driver settings, using the touchscreen, and navigating Autopilot functions. It’s accessible under Controls > Service > Onboarding Guide.
