Tesla Shows off Cybercab at Employee ‘Frunk or Treat’ Event at Giga Texas

Tesla offered its first daytime display of its newly-revealed Robotaxi at its Halloween-themed Frunk or Treat event. The event, held over the weekend at Giga Texas, allowed employees to experience the Cybercab under the Texas sunlight, contrasting its previous nighttime debut at the “We, Robot” event at Warner Brothers Studios in California.

The Robotaxi’s exterior stood out under the sunlight, where the colours appeared more vibrant than they had at night. This paint choice is a first for Tesla, marking a departure from the brand’s usual colours and despite being called the Cybercab, is not made from stainless steel but rather aluminum, which are lighter and more cost-effective than the stainless steel used on the Cybertruck.

In daylight, the Robotaxi’s design appeared slightly less angular, with softened lines that brought out a sleeker, more Tesla-like appearance. We also got to see the Cybercab’s 21-inch wheels without its futuristic wheel covers, revealing five-spoke wheels not found on any other Tesla vehicle. We also got to see the Cybercab has red brake calipers, likely borrowed from the Model 3 Performance.

As you can see in the video above, while the Cybercab was a static display at the event, it was actually driven away from its parking spot, and not towed away. This is quite interesting considering the Cybercab obviously doesn’t have a steering wheel or pedals, meaning it was likely being driven by FSD.

With this Cybercab display at Giga Texas, this hopefully means Tesla will be showing them off to not only employees, but also fans across North America. After all, the company did make at least 19 of them for the unveiling event, so they have more than a few to spare for a cross-country tour.

Here are some more photos and videos of the Cybercab at the Frunk or Treat event.
