Tesla shares video of FSD-Supervised ride-hailing tests in Austin as Robotaxi launch nears

Tesla’s ride-hailing service, based on its Full Self-Driving (FSD) tech, is now live in Texas. The automaker is using a select group of employees to put the Robotaxi platform through its paces in Austin and the San Francisco Bay Area.

The company’s official X account for AI matters shared the news, along with a few stats. The service has logged over 1500 trips and 15,000 miles on the road. The post includes a video showing how the Robotaxi app works and riders in a refreshed Model 3. The passengers are able to control the trip from the touchscreen at the back. There is a driver behind the wheel.

Tesla says trialing the service with its employees helps to “develop & validate FSD networks, the mobile app, vehicle allocation, mission control & remote assistance operations.”

FSD Supervised is already live on many Tesla cars, provided the owners are willing to subscribe. However, the latest announcement makes the Robotaxi service more real as the June launch date gets closer.

The company will welcome private Tesla owners to enroll their vehicles in the program when they are not personally using them. However, the two-seater Cybercab, which has no steering wheel or pedals, is the backbone of the Robotaxi service.

Meanwhile, Tesla is already using FSD to park newly-produced Model Ys autonomously at Giga Texas.
