Tesla service invoices in Canada can now be financed through Affirm

Tesla owners in Canada now have a new way to manage their vehicle maintenance costs. The company has added Affirm as a financing option for service invoices through the Tesla app, making it easier for customers to pay for repairs and maintenance over time.

The new feature, added in the Tesla app update v4.46.0 that was released on Tuesday, appears alongside the estimated service invoice total, with an option labeled “see if you qualify.”

Tapping this opens Affirm’s interface, allowing customers to apply for financing on the spot. Based on approval and credit profile, payment plans can include 0% APR offers or longer terms with rates up to 36% APR.

For example, a basic service visit that includes a tire rotation ($85) and wheel balance ($105), with taxes bringing the total to $199.50, can now be split into monthly installments instead of being paid upfront. While some may not see the need to finance a $200 service bill, others will welcome the flexibility. It will also be especially helpful for owners managing multiple maintenance needs or higher-cost repairs.

Affirm’s offering Tesla service in Canada now gets closer to Tesla’s offering in the United States. Last year Tesla partnered with Klarna to bring flexible payments to the online Tesla Shop. Through Klarna, U.S. customers could split accessory purchases into four bi-weekly payments at 0% APR, or choose longer terms with higher interest rates for larger-ticket items.

However, just over a month later Tesla ditched Klarna for Affirm, allowing customers to spread their payments over 8 weeks, 6 months, 12 months, or 24 months, depending on the total purchase amount.

It’s worth noting that financing approval through Affirm is subject to a credit check, and a down payment may be required.
