Tesla sales in China surged 15% in July

Tesla China sales from Giga Shanghai increased year-over-year in July, marking the first increase in a few months.

According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), made-in-China (MIC) Tesla sales surged last month, recording a 15 percent increase year-over-year. Giga Shanghai shipped 74,117 vehicles, comprising the Model 3 and Model Y, reversing a few months of decline.

The numbers for July were Tesla China’s best since March, and marks the second best start to a quarter ever for Giga Shanghai.

Tesla China is so far not keeping pace with last year’s sales numbers. It has shipped 500,740 units this year, a slump of 7.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

Part of the reason for the lower numbers in 2024 was a cut to production for a few months, but as of July full production has resumed.

We reported Tesla has resumed shipping the Model Y to Canada from China.
