Tesla has reportedly signed a contract with Eve Energy for the Chinese company to supply energy storage batteries starting in 2026.
According to media reports, Eve Energy has entered into an agreement with Tesla to supply energy storage batteries. The former will ship the batteries from its subsidiary factory in Malaysia to the US.
Eve Energy has not confirmed the reports. However, Eve Energy Malaysia recently stated in a stock market filing that it had inked a battery cell supply deal with an unnamed company in the Americas.
If the reports are accurate, Eve Energy will become the sixth company to supply batteries to Tesla. The US EV maker now sources materials from Panasonic, LG Energy Solution, CATL, BYD, and Sunwoda. However, Eve Energy will be the third supplier to Tesla’s US factory.
Tesla purchases battery cells from different companies to build its Megapacks and Powerwalls as it tries to meet industrial and domestic energy storage needs. Chinese media reports Tesla will soon complete its Giga Factory in Shanghai, from where it will export the batteries to the rest of the world. BYD’s FinDreams will reportedly supply battery cells to the 40 GWh-capacity facility.
