Tesla has quietly upgraded Sentry Mode and Dashcam for the Cybertruck, adding recordings from its B-pillar camera. We use the word quietly because the feature was turned on the in the background without the need for a software update to the vehicle or the mobile app.
The inclusion of B-pillar recordings has been anticipated since earlier this year, when Tesla rolled out the same functionality to Hardware 4 (HW4/AI4) equipped vehicles in the Spring Update. However, Cybertruck owners were left wondering why they too didn’t receive the feature despite having with the latest AI4 hardware suite and AMD Ryzen infotainment computer.
It was even more frustrating as the added camera views would have been especially helpful given the rise in targeted vandalism on Cybertrucks at the time. As it turns out, the delay was due to technical differences between the pickup and the rest of Tesla’s fleet, according to Cybertruck Program Manager Siddhant Awasthi, who confirmed in August that support would arrive “soon.”
The day has arrived, with the official Tesla Cybertruck account on X announcing the new camera views for both Sentry and Dashcam on X. Cybertruck owners were quick to find out the feature had already been activated without an update to the vehicle or mobile app.

The B-pillar cameras are mounted between the front and rear doors, offering a side perspective that plugs one of the blind spots in Tesla’s surveillance system.
With the update, drivers can now seamlessly cycle through six different camera perspectives, creating a more complete record of road incidents and parking lot encounters.
