Tesla has appointed longtime executive Joe Ward to oversee its global sales, service, and delivery operations. Ward, who currently serves as Vice President overseeing Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), will now take on responsibility for Tesla’s entire global sales organization, according to a report from Bloomberg citing sources familiar with the decision.
Having joined Tesla in 2010 as a logistics intern, Ward has spent more than 15 years rising through the company’s sales and operations ranks, holding roles across logistics, analytics, sales operations, and delivery management, based on the entries on his LinkedIn profile, which has not yet been updated to reflect his new position within the company.
His most recent position as VP of EMEA placed him in charge of one of Tesla’s most complex regions, where the automaker has faced both rapid growth and increasing competition from legacy automakers and newer EV entrants.
Ward’s expanded responsibilities will now include leading Tesla’s global sales, delivery, and service strategy.
The leadership change comes as the company has experienced slowing delivery growth in recent quarters, particularly in Europe, where sales dipped by more than 50% in many countries. Tesla also relinquished its position as the world’s top EV seller in 2025, highlighting the importance of strengthening its sales and operational execution.
Tesla has not officially commented on the leadership change, and the company has yet to outline any specific adjustments to its sales strategy under Ward’s leadership.
The move comes shortly after the departure of Raj Jegannathan, who announced his departure over the weekend after more than 13 years with the company. Jegannathan had been overseeing North American sales for less than a year, alongside his broader leadership responsibilities in IT and AI infrastructure.
