Tesla has opened yet another Supercharger in Merritt, British Columbia. This is the fourth Supercharger in the small city, and the first with trailer-friendly stalls.
The newest Merritt Supercharger first appeared in August, with the site popping up across the street from one of the existing Supercharger stations, and with within a 200 meter radius of another, all on Crawford Avenue. What made this Supercharger different than the others was not only its size at 16 stalls, twice the size of all the existing stations in Merritt, but also that it was one of the first in BC to feature Tesla’s V4 Supercharger posts.
In relatively quick fashion compared to many other projects in BC still waiting to be turned on, the Merritt Supercharger was powered up this week, bringing the total number of Supercharger stalls in the city to 40. According to Tesla’s mobile app, it costs $0.49/kWh to plug in, which is slightly higher than the other 3 Merritt Superchargers which cost $0.42/kWh. At the time of writing, stall 4A is currently out of order.
As we mentioned, this station also has trailer-friendly Supercharger stalls. In the middle of the parking lot there are four pull-through stalls, although the configuration makes it look like utilizing all four of them when a towing a trailer might be difficult.
As you can see in the photo below, shared with us by one of our readers Glenn when the site was still under construction, there is a light post direct in between the pull-through stalls. This makes it appear as though it will be difficult, or next to impossible, to pull a trailer through that area, meaning there will technically only be two trailer-friendly stalls, one each on the outside of the islands.
If you happen to visit the new Merritt Supercharger, please send us some pictures and let us know if there is enough space to pull a trailer between the Supercharger posts and the light post.
Speaking of trailer-friendly Supercharger stalls, with the latest 2024.44 software update, Tesla now shows you which Superchargers on your route have trailer-friendly stalls.
