Tesla is celebrating the upcoming Year of the Snake by offering a special incentive to its owners in China. As part of the New Year festivities, the automaker is providing a free 30-day trial of Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) to eligible Tesla owners.
According to Tesla China, the limited-time offer is available to Tesla vehicles delivered before January 27, 2025, that are not already equipped with Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) or Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities. Eligible owners will receive a push notification in their vehicles within the next few days, allowing them to activate and enjoy the feature at no cost for 30 days.
To qualify for the promotion, Tesla owners must meet the following criteria:
- The vehicle must have been delivered before January 27, 2025.
- The vehicle must not currently have EAP or FSD activated.
- The vehicle hardware must support EAP, which requires at least Hardware 2.0 (HW2.0) or newer.
What Is Enhanced Autopilot?
Enhanced Autopilot is an driver-assistance system designed to make highway driving safer and more convenient. EAP comes very close to the feature set of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) package, but does not include Traffic Light & Stop Sign Recognition and Automatic City Driving.
Here’s what EAP does include:
- Navigate on Autopilot: Assists with highway driving, including lane changes and exit ramps.
- Auto Lane Change: Switches lanes automatically when safe to do so.
- Autopark: Assists with parallel and perpendicular parking maneuvers.
- Summon: Allows drivers to remotely move their vehicle forward or backward in tight parking spaces.
- Smart Summon: Enables the vehicle to navigate parking lots and drive to the owner’s location.
Along with this New Year celebration perk in China, Tesla is also releasing a feature-packed software update, extending its 0% interest promo on the Model 3 and Model Y, and offering a ¥10,000 (C$1,970/US$1,370) reduction on the final payment for buyers of existing inventory and demo cars.
